Smiling but freezing

Dan Patrick set, down in front I can't see

...in the lane the snow is too deep...

Cairo"I want my warm seat" Medora"Quit whining"

Again security failed and someone got into the Dan Patrick set

How do we start this thing and get outa here
From the beginning this sounded great, run camera at a Super Bowl event. The event was Direct TV's  Celebrity Beach Bowl and Marroon 5 concert. They were also doing the Dan Patrick Show, these originally were to be on the parking lot at Texas stadium. Then we get notice that our venue has been moved, we are now outside the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas. Oh well it still pays the same. Most of our crew had been booked at hotels in Arlington and the mid cities. They would have had an easy drive to work had the show stayed at the stadium. I checked on RV parks and found most in that  area were filled so I opted for Dallas West RV Park on Commerce. This is not even a mile west of downtown and very near our new venue location. My plan was to park and then an easy bike ride to work no big deal. How wrong and foolish was I. What happened in Dallas is Gods punishment for the way Jerry fired Tom Landry, who by the way is sitting at the right hand of God. I left Houston on Wed after a rolling blackout hit Houston (the government is here to help) the drive up was uneventful. The dogs were in there usual spots, Cairo on the copilots seat offering a glance at the road occasionally to make sure we were going where he deemed okay,  then back asleep. Medora was on the sofa plotting ways to take the copilot seat away from Cairo. She would make a casual walk to the front, look around, stretch then slink back back to the sofa thinking, I'll figure out a way to get you off that seat you little dog.The trip went fine until where I-45 crosses I-20 the ice started, truckers were creeping along at about 25mph so I fell in line and crept along with them. The road cleared after that area then the ramp to I-30 which curves down and around still had ice slow that was slow going. I got around downtown Dallas and took the Victory street exit where our show was now located and guess what, the downtown streets were a sheet of ice. Driving was not to bad, the bus weighs around 26,000 lbs, so if you go slow it will stay solid. I dropped off gear at the venue then off to the RV park. The park was easy to find and get to, Parked plugged in and cranked the heat. The dogs needed to walk so out we went, Medora loved it, Cairo hated it. I was more in line with Cairo. The next morning I had to hitch a ride with a neighbor from the RV park since it was to cold to ride a bike and cabs were not running. After work back to the the bus and sleep since it was to cold to go anywhere. For some reason cold weather makes you tired. The next day six inches of new snow, and colder temps. Just what you need for a pleasant Super Bowl experience. We still had to do rehearsal and other stuff so we were freezing all day. Meals in drafty unheated tents, slogging through snow and slipping on ice. The glamorous world of show biz. Saturday came and it did warm up, we did the show,  half the celebrities I did not recognize, as soon as it was over I was back on the road headed to Houston. At least when Houston hosted the Big Show we had better weather and the venues were not spread out across miles and miles.
