Who is the most famous football player to come from LA Tech in Ruston, Louisiana? Bulldog football was the next trip actually twice, the first time I took a crew of six people from Houston to work the game. The first game went great, the travel not so great, nobody was ready to leave when I wanted to, which meant we got to Monroe where their hotel was really late at night. Plus the next day I had to get up way to early to drive them to the stadium. There is a topper to all that, one person had to be at a job on Sunday so that meant after we worked the game I drove back all night while they slept. Never again, this is my house, not a bus to accommodate someones schedule. The second go round it was just me and the dogs and a much more leisure trip. A few stops for fun and dog walks it was great. Once again I got away from the big city and found out how much nicer the people are in small town America. Lincoln Parrish Park is just north of Ruston, it is beutiful, plus the staff are very nice. They gave me the gate code since I would arrive after the gate was locked they suggested a space and told me to settle up with payment the next day. We arrived after dark so I could not see much of the park, the dogs wanted a walk so we walked the road and a group had a bonfire going which was nice because it was chilly( Dec 5) it did get down to 30 degrees that night. In the morning I opened the curtains and was amazed at the lake and the trees , it was gorgeous. I didn't care if it was cold," Medora, Cairo get ready we are walking around that lake". We all enjoyed the walk, the dogs made their deposits which showed they now owned said property, yes I did pick up the deposits and desposed of them properly. Responsible dog ownership makes for happy campers. I had to leave the park before the office opened so I slipped a note under the door telling them where I was and when I would be back, again after office hours. Crew call was early so off we went to the stadium. Upon arrival the guard at the parking lot gate looked at the bus with afunny look on his face, I slid the window open and said "TV crew, looks like plenty of space near the production truck", he sort of waved me through either way I intended to park next to the TV truck. I walked the dogs on our lunch hour then time to do the game. Aterwards some of us went to a great barbecue place. Dowlings Smokehouse just north of I-20 on Cooktown road. The food was wonderful and the price was right. The locals eat here, if your ever in Ruston stop in. Time to go back to the park. The next day I pulled up to the office, walked in and was greeted by " Hi Mr. Jay those are nice looking dogs you have and did you enjoy your stay." Now how did this lady know who I was and how did she know about the dogs, she couldn't see the dogs from the office and I hadn't stepped foot in it until now. Aha, she explained that she had driven her rounds as I was walking the dogs that morning and of course she knew what space I was in.It was nice to be greeted by name. I told her I was ready to pay and it was very nice park. The fees were 20 per night and I was there two nights so 40 dollars. She says "No, no you got here after the office was closed and you didn't even get to use the whole park,so I'll just charge you for one night hows that." That is whats great about small towns. Well back to the big city and people who can't even say hello. The trip back was even more slow than the trip up, just took my time and stopped whenever I wanted. The most famous football player, the picture says it all.
