Baylor stadium from Camera 2 position |
The bus was barely finished when a job popped up. Baylor vs Buffalo football in Waco, supplies had to be loaded, fuel (and lots of money) was needed and assorted little details taken care of before I left the house. The big difference in leaving this time I could take the dogs, this was the first road trip for them except for a few rides around town. How will they behave in here for several hours? We left on a Friday drove up highway 6 through College Station and all kinds of small towns. Driving a bus through these towns made me think I should be stopping at every little burg and pick up people with suitcases or drop off packages. The drive was fun a great way to see the country. Now the dogs were snooping around the bus for the first half hour, then I guess they figured out they were in for the whole ride. Cairo jumped on the copilot seat and watched the road for a while then curled up and went to sleep.I would find out later that Cairo decided he owns that seat. Medora took up on the sofa and promptly stretched out and and went to doggy dreamland. We made it to Waco and pulled into the Midway Campground. It is a Corp of Engineers park and is on Lake Waco. The place is very nice and cheap, I had a veiw of the lake and plenty of places to walk the dogs. Spent the night and went to the game the next day, the park is right in Waco and only ten minutes from the stadium. I took a cab to the game and then got a ride back from one of the crew members. the nice thing was I had my feet propped up and relaxing before the rest of the crew hit the city limits on their way home. I was home. The next day we had to go back to Houston, the drive was easy and the dogs did a repeat of the trip up. The first job/road trip was a success.
