What does this thing do? |
Finding the bus online was great but big deal, now I wanted to see it in person. A quick flight from Hobby Airport to Midway and the rental car and I were headed east to La Porte, Indiana. I told myself if the bus checked out I'd buy it. At the same time I had some doubts, it can't be what they say, something must be wrong. Then again maybe its better than the photos show. Any how if it didn't work out a plane flight later I'd be back in Houston dreaming again. I found the place and the couple who owned the bus were nice but seemed a little wary of someone coming from Texas just to look. After a day of going through the bus, interior and exterior, I went back to the hotel. Test drive it the next day. Went back to the bus and the owner showed me how to prep and start it. With him driving we took off for a spin around the block. He went down the block and kept going. Soon we were out of town zipping down the highway. The bus ran great and he drove it like a pro. Then we slowed down and pulled over, "Your turn," he said. Now, I had never driven anything bigger than a good sized Uhaul, so with a little trepidation we swapped seats. He talked me through the take-off and all of a sudden I was driving a bus. Yes it was a little scary on a two lane road, he kept talking me through it, and somehow we made it back to his house. We parted ways, and now it was decision time for me. I went to lunch, read the newspaper and sat and thought, I also prayed alot. After a few hours I went back and bought the bus. We had dinner at their house and I spent that night in my bus parked in their driveway.
